NHS CUTS WORRY LOCAL RESIDENTS

Romsey Conservatives spent 2 hours in the Cornmarket collecting signatures for their petition to Gordon Brown calling for an end to cuts in the Health Service.

The petition is part of a national response to the mismanagement of the health service which resulted in the NHS ending the last financial year with deficits amounting to £1.3 billion. In response Gordon Brown has ordered drastic and short-sighted NHS cuts.
Last Saturday Romsey Conservatives spent twohours in the Cornmarket collecting signatures for their petition to Gordon Brown calling for an end to cuts in the Health Service.

The petition is part of a national response to the mismanagement of the health service which resulted in the NHS ending the last financial year with deficits amounting to £1.3 billion. In response Gordon Brown has ordered drastic and short-sighted NHS cuts.

The petition supports the hard working health service workers, many of whom enthusiastically signed on saturday. In total nearly 350 signatures were collected at the stall in the Cornmarket.

Conservative candidate for Romsey at the next election Caroline Nokes said:

"It was interesting how those who work in the NHS were very keen to cross the road specifically to sign the petition. Their stories of how cuts and changes to the NHS are affecting them locally were very striking. There is very real local concern, not least about the decision to close the Birthing Unit at Romsey hospital.

"The signatures collected will be added to those from around the rest of the country and handed to Gordon Brown"
