Stockbridge is nominated in the Google Street View Awards
Six streets within London & the South East have been shortlisted by Googles panel of experts which includes VisitBritain, Lonely Planet, TV presenter Julia Bradbury, Fashion Designer Jeff Banks and Editor of Glamour, Jo Elvin. There are three categories, Most picturesque Street, Best Fashion Street and Best Foodie Street.
Stockbridge High Street is one of two in the South East to be nominated for Britains best Foodie street.
The two streets nominated for this category in the South East are Londons Charlotte Street, nominated by Richard Harden, Co-Editor of Hardens Restaurant Guides and Roopa Gulati, Deputy Channel Head of Good Food. Charlotte Street, with its mix of cheap eateries and Michelin starred restaurants and Stockbridge High Street, with its local food, restaurants, food markets and annual Food Fair - Trout and About, which was nominated by Chloe Scott-Moncrieff, Food & Drink Editor of Metro.
The winning street will need to be offering a unique mix of mouth-watering options which could include fine dining, cafés, market stalls and delicatessens, all covering a diverse mix of food types and price points.
The winning street will be crowned Britains Best Street 2010 in the foodie category. Google will work with the winning streets to create a bespoke Google Street View tour, created to highlight the key retailers and points of interest, allowing the world to find out more about the nations final choices
Stockbridge High Street will now battle it out against 19 other streets in a nationwide public vote. Voting closes on Sunday 28th February. The winners will be announced in March. To vote, go to www.maps.google.co.uk/beststreets
