Cllr Asks Network Rail About Work at Crampmoor / Tadburn
Conservative Cllr for Romsey Extra, caroline Nokes, was contacted by a local resident over the weekend regarding the felling of a number of trees along the line between Crampmoor and Tadburn Meadows.
Caroline visited the site on Sunday afternoon with County Councillor for Romsey Extra Roy Perry.
Caroline said:
"It was clear that a large number of trees had been felled, and the resident I spoke to was concerned that those living near the line had not been informed. As the Borough Councillor I knew that there was maintenance to take place, this weekend, but did not know the nature of the work.
"I have had legitimate concerns raised with me about trees that were not on railway property, and I have to say the screen that was there to the railway line has now been removed. It is completely understandable if this was for safety reasons, but a little information sent to local residents goes a long way.
"I was shocked by Netwrok Rail's immediate response to me which was along the lines of, well we don't have any duty to inform people, they may not have a duty to, but it would have been a courtesy."
