Open Forum to Discuss Housing in Longparish

The Longparish Housing Group hosted a very informative "open forum" in Longparish today to discuss proposals for an affordable housing scheme in the village.

Attended by those both in favour or, and opposed to the scheme, it was an opportunity to ask questions, look at plans and proposals, and to question planning and housing officers from Test Valley Borough Council.

Cllr Caroline Nokes, the prospective MP for Romsey and Southampton North attended the exhibition and had some interesting discussions with local people regarding the merits of the scheme:

Caroline said:

"I really appreciated the opportunity to have a look at what was proposed in detail.  Longparish is fortunate to benefit from a conservation area, and it is crucially important that planning policies with require any additional development to enhance or preserve the character of the conservation area are adhered to. The policy which is under discussion in Longparish (ESN06) is entirely new, and therefore untested, which is causing some legitimate concern.  But it was refreshing to see people prepared to debate the issue in public via this open forum."
