22/4/2013 - Conservatives Welcome Infrastructure Improvements

LOCAL CONSERVATIVES WELCOME INVESTMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE TO BOOST JOBS AND GIVE PEOPLE SECURITY

Romsey and Southampton North Conservatives have welcomed the announcement from the Prime Minister and the Chancellor that there will be 36 billion invested in more than 200 infrastructure projects this year.

This investment will particularly benefit Romsey and Southamptonmotorists using the M27 with pinch point improvements on junctions 3 and 5 of the motorway. The junction changes should help traffic flow on the congested route.

CommentingCaroline NokesMP said:

Backing small business and enterprise with better infrastructure is part of this Governments long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive British economy.

By taking difficult decisions to control spending elsewhere, the Government has been able to invest in infrastructure creating jobs and making it easier for businesses to move goods around the country. We all know how difficult the M27 can be at peak times and these two junctions are some of the most significant pressure points. These improvements should make it easier for freight to get into and out of the Port of Southampton and also make access to the Airport and Southampton Parkway much easier."
