15/10/2007 - Pride of Place Poll Causes a Stir

Test Valley Borough Asks You to Vote for Your Favourite!

A recent press release from Test Valley Borough Council has encouraged local residents to take part in a national poll to identify the locations across Britain that we are most proud of.

Cllr Caroline Nokes, the Executive member for Leisure and Culture has commented:

"The list of nominations seems to have caused something of a stir, because there are some fantastic attractions in Test Valley that have not been included.  For instance, neither Romsey nor Mottisfont Abbey has been nominated, there is no chance to vote for the Museum of Army Aviation, Danebury Hill Fort is missing, and many others.

"For my part I am just thrilled that there is so much to offer in this area, and when I came to consider the question "Where would I take a visitor for the day in this area" there was a massive amount to choose from.  Because you can only vote for one place on the website, I opted for Romsey War Memorial Park, largely because it is one of my daughter's favourite places to go, but also because of the Test running through it, and also of course for what the War Memorial Park signifies."
