Romsey Conservative Association is run by a management team, headed by the Association Chairman. The Association Officers are elected every year at the Annual General Meeting (the last AGM was in February 2007) and they make all the crucial decisions that affect the Association.
The constituency is divided into several branches, each inclusive of one or two council wards. Every branch elects its own Chairman and officers who co-ordinate campaigning activities in their area. This includes delivering leaflets, organising canvassing sessions and recruiting new members.
We cannot fight elections without money to pay for the campaigns, so a significant amount of Association work involves fundraising. Officers, branches, and ordinary members organise events ranging from receptions through to large dinners. Recent speakers have included Michael Mates, Michael Howard and John Redwood.
Romsey Conservatives also provide members with a wide range of opportunities to participate in non-fundraising events. There is a Conservative Policy Forum where members put forward their views and ideas on set topics. The views expressed are relayed to the national Conservative Party for inclusion in the process of policy formation.
